Beagles are gentle, sweet and loving. They are very sociable and intelligent. They are known to be excellent with children and well-behaved with other dogs but should not be trusted around non-canine animals due to their strong hunting instincts. They need firm leadership and training. They require plenty of daily exercise.
The Beagle is a hardy dog that is very sturdy. Beagles display a distinct bay of bark/howl when they are on the hunt. Any color combination is acceptable. They have a short coat that does not require a lot of grooming.
They will weigh 20-25lbs and grow to a height of only 13-16 inches tall. Their life expectancy is 12-15 years.
